Another busy weekend for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members in action over the weekend at Queensland Schools Triathlon and Aquathlon Champs in Hervey Bay, Australian Cross Triathlon Champs in Snowy Mountains and at Noosa Summer Swim.
At the Queensland Schools Triathlon Champs, this was SCTA 19th year in competition and we have had at least 1 athlete each year being selected. This year was no exception with 8 qualifying for Nationals to be held at Hervey Bay in September.
Qualifying for the QLD Team included Sophie Burger 3rd (Senior), Millan Power 5th (Junior Male), Addison Houslip 5th (Junior Female), Jake Hammond 7th (Junior) and Ethan Close (Senior) in the Triathlon and in the Aquathlon Natalia Webbe 4th, Poppiest Mendes 6th and Maggie Mendes 14th.
Medalists in the Teams Relay included Callum Close 2nd (Senior Boys), Millan Power and Jake Hammond 2nd (Junior Boys) and Sophie Burger 3rd (Senior Female).
Up at Noosa for the Summer Swim Series saw Duanne Cannell (50-54) and Rebecca Claridge (55-59) both have great swims in the 3km where they won their respective categories while SCTA Club Member Brodie Gardner headed to the Australian Cross Triathlon Champs where he just missed the podium with a 4th Place (ELITE)

A busy few weekends of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members that have been in action at various races.
Starting with the local Caloundra Triathlon as part of Race # 6 of the Queensland Triathlon Series which saw windy conditions, saw some great racing form the SCTA Crew with Jordan Gover 1st (50-54), 2nd places to Keith Campbell (35-39), Kim Alexander (50-54) and Maureen Cummings (60-64). Elke Madlener 3rd (14-15) rounded out our podium finishes. Top 10 finishes to Ruby Blue Weepers 5th (16-19), Richie Leech 5th (30-34), John Sheridan 7th (50-54) and Matt Ludbrooke 9th (35-39). SCTA Club Member Paul Marchant 2nd (25-29).
In the Enticer all the Juniors will be backing up for Qld Schools Tri Champs this Friday saw Kyle Wallis 2nd (16-19). Just missing the podium was Millan Power 4th (U/14) and Jayden James 5th (U/16). It was great to see Ingi Doyle 5th (Mates Wave) back racing after some health complications that saw never possibly being back racing but she has overcome the hardest race of all surviving hospital and the operations she endured. The smile said it all crossing the line!!
Bribie Island Triathlon Race # 3 over the longer distance of 1/28/8 saw Brett Stalley 1st (55-19) slowly improving with each race. Matt Phillips 3rd (30-34) rounded out the podium finishes with Steve Miller 4th (60-64) just missing the podium. In the Short Course Marilyn Shrapnel 1st (70-74) continued her dominance with another win.
Trail running with Beerwah at Night Half Marathon saw Richie Leech 2nd (31-39) have a really strong run to take 3rd Overall.
30th Jan saw the Kingscliff Triathlon and some great results in the standard distance of 1.5/40/10 which saw Ruby Blue Weepers 1st (16-17) in her first standard distance tri and Brett Stalley 3rd (55-59) and in the Sprint distance Pauline Ashley 3rd (45-49)
Australia Day was a busy day of racing with Sophie Burger 2nd (OPEN) lining up in the 2km Pavilion Open Water Swim at Redcliffe, Emily Barrett 2nd (20-24) at the West Lake Triathlon in South Australia and SCTA Club Member Ryan Marsh 12th (OPEN) at Burleigh Swim Run.
St Kilda was the venue for the Australian Sprint Triathlon Champs where we crowned our latest Australian Champion with Greg Bush (65-69) and a silver Medal with Jordan Gover 2nd (50-54) missing the Australian Title by 2 seconds. Great racing boys!!
