Great racing from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members in action at Race # 1 of the Queensland Triathlon Series incorporating the Triathlon Queensland Club Championships.
In the Standard Distance of 1.5/40/10 saw a low tide where there was a bit of a wade to start proceedings in the swim. Emily Donker had a strong day out with the fastest run split that saw her take out 3rd OPEN Female. Lauren Murphy 4th (40-44) had a solid day out. SCTA Club Member Simon Hearn 3rd OPEN Male chased hard after the young "ITU" Athletes.
In the Sprint Distance over 750/20/5 there was ding dong battle in the 50-54 Years Male that saw Kim Alexander take the win over Jordan Gover 2nd. Sophie Burger 2nd (16-19) had a great start with a strong swim and bike. The run is improving all the time and with 6th Female Overall. Steve Miller 5th (60-64) performed strongly once again. Other top 10 finishes went to Callum Close 7th (16-19), Rebecca Howell 7th (25-29), Ethan Close 8th (16-19) and Rachel James 9th (35-39). Kyle Wallis 23rd (16-19) learnt some valuable lessons in only his 4th Triathlon. SCTA Club Member Ryan Marsh 4th (16-19)
Enticer racing was very strong and you see the growth of some of the athletes from season to season and the first race was no exception. Millan Power 6th (U/14) raced well as did Wade Wallis 25th (U/14) Both these boys have only competed in a handful of Triathlons and I look forward to seeing the progression this season. SCTA Club Members raced well with Grace Brimelow 10th (U/16) , Mia Davis 21st (U/14) and Jude Brimelow 21st (U/14)
In the Phoenix KIds Billie Elsum 21st (10-11) had a strong race while SCTA Club Member Carter Davis 15th (10-11)
While in South Australia for the Yerrebilla 28km Ultra Run, Margo Mackintosh 1st (40-49) and Female Race Winner had a great run over the 28km Run where she finished 6th Overall amongst the Men. Nice Work Margo!

Some great performances from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members at our Home race doubling as the Queensland Long Course Championships at the Ironman Oceania Sunshine Coast 70.3
Perfect conditions for racing greeted the athletes with a light Northerly wind that made the swim a bit choppy but perfect conditions for the cycle leg on the motorway. Angela Vinnicombe 8th (40-44) did a 10min PB. Norm Marsh was well underdone for the race but still put a in solid performance with 23rd (55-59). Grant Callaghan from Protector Aluminium raced strong for a 29th (50-54) while Andrea Learoyd smiled her way around the course having a great day out with 46th (40-44). Alex Forrest lined up in his first 70.3 and put in a solid effort with 60th (25-29) while the Mixed Teams Rebecca Howell (Swim), Lauren Murphy (Cycle) and Tom Li (Run) were 18th.
SCTA Club Members Matt Wolstencroft 1st (50-54) and Zsolt Dallos 3rd (40-44) both walked away with Queensland Champion Titles, while Paul Marchant 3rd (25-29) took away a silver in the State Champs. Well Done.
The previous weekend saw Margo Mackintosh head south for the South Australian Duathlon Championships and was greeted with icy cold and windy conditions. Margo raced extremely well to take out the RACE WIN in OPEN Females and crowned the State Champion.
