Some great racing from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes over the past 3 weekends which saw athletes racing at Sunshine Coast Marathon Run Festival, Queensland Schools Cross Country, Velothon Sunshine Coast, WTS Edmonton, Yeppoon Triathlon Festival, ITU Paratriathlon World Cup and ITU Tiszy World Cup.
Over the weekend SCTA had 18 athletes compete over the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and 2km running events. Some great results were achieved. In the Marathon Angie Hammond completed her first ever in a cracking time of 4:15:25 and earned that well deserved post run beer
In the Half Marathon, Cameron and Ben Binet were fine tuning their preps for the Berlin Marathon with a great run with Cam in 1:18:43 and Ben in 1:32:11. Nicholas Hull took the fastest time with a 1:16:59. It was perfect conditions for running and extremely fast times.
In the 5km the SCTA Girls dominated with Mia Wooldridge the Female Race winner in 18:13. Being pushed all the way by her sister and SCTA Junior Scholarship Holder Ella Wooldridge with 2nd Female overall in 18:40. Chloe Turner 2nd (18-39) while Erin Wooldridge 3rd (U/16). While in the 2km Billie Elsum took out the U/8 Female title in cracking time of 10:02. Well done to all that ran over all the distances
The Juniors were in action at the Queensland Schools Cross Country Championships in Toowoomba over the weekend and performed extremely well. SCTA qualified 4 members for the Qld Team for National Cross Country on 24th August. Peyton Craig led the charge with a front running performance to take out the 14 Years Boys Title. Jazi Coventry and Ella Wooldridge had a ding dong battle in the 17 Years girls with Jazi 2nd and Ella 5th both qualifying for Qld Team. The final member selected for Qld Team was Mia Wooldridge in a very competitive 13 Years Girls where she finished 6th.
The rest of the Juniors that competed and will take plenty away for future running events were Ryan Marsh, Macey Roberts, Mackenzie Ofield, Jericho Pogany and Erin Wooldridge.
Jessica Lee was the sole athlete from SCTA at the Glasshouse Trail Run where she did the 26km event and finished 30th Female.
At Yeppoon Triathlon Festival, SCTA Club Members were in action and it was double win for Simon Hearn taking out the Open Males for the 2nd year in a row. Standing next to him on the winning dais was Kierra Sansome the Open Female Champion along with Megan Hawkins who was 2nd Open Female.

The Velothon Sunshine Coast has been ridden for another year with the 3 day Velothon covering Day 1 - 90km, Day 2 - 103km and Day 3 - 137km. Well done to Mick Woodcock, Kevin Hammond, Tania Gover and Tara Partridge for completing the 3 day event, while Grant Elliot rode in the 1 day Velothon which was the Day 3 stage of 137km.
Brodie Gardner lined up in the ITU Paratriathlon World Cup as a guide for Gerard Gosen in the PTVI Male division ( Vision Impaired). In their 2nd race together and a bit of further fine tuning to go, they performed well to take 8th Place.
We had SCTA Club Members in action at the Tiszy ITU World Cup is a famous race on the circuit. Held over 2 days they have Semi Final on the Saturday and Final on the Sunday. For the Men 3 semis with top 9 from each race thru to the final plus 3 fastest non qualifiers. In the Female 2 semis with top 14 going thru to the final plus 2 fastest non qualifiers.
Dominate displays in the Semis saw both Ryan Fisher and Kelly Ann Perkins take out 2nd in their respective races. Brittany Dutton scraped into the final under as one of the 2 fastest non qualifiers. Semi's were raced over the 500/12/3.2
