Another big weekend for Sunshine Coast Tri Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes that competed at Ironman Australia and 70.3 at Port Macquarie, Busselton 70.3 and Queensland All Schools Cross Country Champs at Kedron.
At the Queensland All Schools Cross Country Champs we saw Romy Wolstencroft take out 2nd place just behind the national 3000m champion and in the process qualified herself for the National Cross Country Champs, Emma Dreyzin Howell as got a 2nd place, while older sister Lara was 5th. All the Juniors that competed had solid runs especially as they are up against pure runners. Well done SCTA Juniors.
A tough day out in the office at Port Macquarie for both the Ironman and 70.3 events. The rain started from about 11am and kept going for the duration of the event with most of the Ironman riding and running in the rain. Some of the 70.3 were spared the rain on the bike but got it on the run. The wind picked up just before the rain came and made the already demanding bike course even tougher.
Peter Schultz went in underdone but having a goal of getting to the finish line and he did this yet again with a 25th place and 11:16:01. In the 70.3 Brett Stalley was having a solid race and always with a smile on his face to record a 5th place in 4:55:16, while Brendan Batzloff had a strong showing for a 24th Place in 4:50:20.
While over in the West at Bussleton, Katie Kenny was chasing a World 70.3 slot and just came up short with a 6th Place in 4:56:28
