Another successful weekend of Race Results from Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action at Australian and Queensland Cross Triathlon Champs at Ewen Maddock Dam, Noosa Summer Swim Series and Bribe Island Triathlon Series Race # 3.
Ewen Maddock Dam hosted the Australian and Queensland Cross Triathlon Championships, where Brodie Gardner turn the tables on Ben Allen to take out line honours and the Australian and Queensland Elite Title. Its been an up and down preparation but Brodie was able to come away with win on a very hot, dusty and humid day on the trails around Ewen Maddock Dam.
Not to be outdone, Kate Schultz put in an awesome performance to take out the 30-34 Years title and the Australian and Queensland title as well. Ryan Marsh continue on his podium ways to take 2nd (12-13) and another Australian and Queensland medal to his name. While Brad Teys and Scott Marsh competed very well in the conditions.
Next to Bribie Island for Round # 3 of the Triathlon Series saw athletes competing in very hot and humid conditions as well over the 1/30/8 distance. The swim times are always quick with the tide behind the athletes. It was great to see Michael Hooper back on the comeback trail in not only taking the 20-24 title but the first athlete across the line to take overall honours. I told him to enter Opens but was happy in his age group. Jaryd Hamilton was glad he stayed in his age group as Jaryd took the Open Male title and a nice little cheque as well to go with the titled having some fun along the way. Melissa Charlton continued her winning way in the 35-39 just edging out Olivia Latimer in 2nd. Olivia finally got to a start line of a race and blew a few cobwebs out. Jessica Lee also continued her podium finishes at Bribie with a 2nd (30-34)
In the Short Course it was great to see Maddi Dutton back on the start line taking the 20-24 years title. Must have been the new bike syndrome. Well done to Marilyn Shrapnel who took out 2nd 65-69 years.
At the Noosa Summer swim Series, we saw Greg Rehbock on the podium with 3rd (30-34) 3km swim while Tara Baker just missed the podium in 4th (40-44). Tania Gover lined up in the 5km Swim where she finished 6th (40-44).
