Big weekend of racing for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action at Port Macquarie Ironman and 70.3, Queensland Athletics All Schools X Country Championships, Race # 3 of Allez Sport Sunshine Coast X Country Series and the announcements of the Australian Age Group Teams for World Championships.
At Port Macquarie for the Australian Ironman Champs and & 70.3, the athletes couldn't have asked for better conditions. With cool light breeze and mid 20's temperature we were going to see some fast racing.
Tahlia Paskin took the charge in her first ever Ironman and snuck in just over the 12hr mark with a 12.08.42 and 8th place 25-29 and 56th female overall. While in the 70.3 we were represented by Jen (25th) and Scott (36th) Shults, Greg Rehbock (30th), John Simpson (47th) and Kevin Hammond (60th). Well done to all that raced down there some great results.
In contrast to the conditions at Port Mac IM, at both the Queensland Athletics All Schools Cross Country Champs and at Race # 3 of Sunshine Coast Cross Country Series saw wet conditions which is perfect for cross country running.
At QA Cross Country Champs all the SCTA juniors ran extremely well as they are up against pure runners that only train for that. Meg Roberts led the charge with a 10th, Ryan Marsh 15th, Jazzy Shults 17th and Macey Roberts 19th. Most of these categories had in excess of 60 runners so have done a great job.
At Sunshine Coast Cross Country Series Race # 3 we saw Toni Deutzmann take out the win 40-49 10km, with Olivia Latimer 3rd, Parker Deuztmann 3rd as well with Jazzy Shults running her 3rd cross country in 3 days to take out 10th.
