Great work from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action over the weekend.

At Queensland All Schools Championships on home soil at Lake Kawana we had 15 Juniors lining up.  Very warm conditions and a strong breeze meant a tough bike ride on a very technical course that is hard to get any rhythm on.

SCTA Junior Scholarship holders Ella wooldridge let the charge with a strong ride and run to take out 2nd Senior Female and Ryan Marsh had a strong swim to be up there but pushed the bike a little to hard to hit the bitumen on the bike. He got back up to finish off strongly with a 8th Senior Male.

In the Senior Females Erin Wooldridge (6th), Kayleigh Foster (10th) and Jorja Matthews (14th) went up a category as well while Macey Roberts (11th). All girls will take out positives from the race that they will implement in future races.

In the Intermediate Boys Peyton Craig went up a category racing boys a year older and had a strong swim and run to finish 5th. Both Jericho Pogany (24th) and Scott Marsh (48th) showed improvements from last season race here and take valuable experience in this development.

In the Junior Female for the first time was Finn Barlow (15th) and Zoe Davis (1 lap short on bike). In a very completive field. It is great experience that they will take to State Schools in Hervey Bay next February.

There were some big numbers in the Primary schools Aquathlon for both the Boys and Girls with 120 and 111 competitors respectively. In the Boys Jake Hammond (36th) and Zak Hammond (89th) and in the Girls Pipi Barlow (29th) and Mia Davis (56th). While in the Kids Aquathlon Girls, Billie Elsum had a great race to finish 35th.

On Saturday the Queensland Cross Triathlon Champs was held in Brisbane over 1km Swim, 22.5km Mt Bike and 6km Trail Run. Its been a huge 2 weeks for Brodie Gardner and partner Kate Schultz welcoming the birth of their first Child Ollie, Brodie put a performance in that didn't see his rivals get close to him taking the OPEN Queensland Championship Title convincingly. Unfortunately a mechanical on the Mt Bike course saw Jade Ingram have to withdraw from the race.

Well done to all that raced. Full results below

Also securing her spot for Nationals was Mackenzie Ofield who took out the 15 Years Female 3000m Walk. Jazi Coventry finished 4th 17 Years Female 800m and 1500

A small contingent went to Bribie Island to compete. In the Sprint Distance Jake Hynes exited the water in front fine tuning for Noosa Tri in 2 weeks. Well done to all that raced over the weekend at Round 2 of the Queensland Triathlon Series at Raby Bay and at the Hawaiian Ironman World Champs in Kona. Some great results form the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes.

At Raby Bay for Round # 2 of QTS saw a storm and rain the day before cool the water to 18 degrees on race morning. Some decided to wear wetsuits and some different. In the long Course, Lucy Bowden led the charge in the OPEN Females with another podium with 3rd place. In the Open Males we saw Paul Marchant (9th) and SCTA / PA Junior scholarship Holder Ryan Marsh (11th) step up to the OPEN MALE for the first time. They gained some valuable experience that will be taken into future races. Nicholas Hull was 7th Open Male.

Both Alana Park 2nd (25-29) and Pauline Ashley 2nd (45-49) both had great races to land back on the podium again, while Rebecca Howell 4th (25-29) just missed the podium.

In the Super Sprint, SCTA / PA Junior scholarship Holder Ella Wooldridge led the charge with the fastest Female and winner 16-19, while it had been a hard week for the Turner Family with Michelle passing away last weekend. With the Memorial service on Saturday, it was going to be hard for them to attend their first Triathlon without Michelle there supporting. But both had great races to make Michelle proud , and taking top spots on the podium with Gary 70-74 winner and Chloe 25-29 Winner. Erin Wooldridge 4th (16-19) just missed the podium and Jorja Matthews 9th (16-19) in the top 10. It was awesome to see a huge PB to Jericho Pogany and Scott Marsh finishing off strongly both in the 14-15 Years.

In the Enticer, Mia Wooldridge had a great race to not only win her category (U/14 Female) but was the fastest female and 4th overall amongst the boys and Zoe Davis is improving all the time. In the Kool Kids we saw improvements in their races from Heidi Craig, Mia Davis and Billie Elsum.

While over in Kona, Mitch Baker has been doing some open water swimming leading up to the big dance. Mitch had a solid day out where he finished 71st in a time of 9:39:30. SCTA Club Member Carrie Lester was in the mix for most of the day in the top 5 coming off the bike. She lost her nutrition early into the race and that cost her in the back end of the run. She went on to finish 8 in Professional Female in a time of 8:58:40
