Race – Sunshine Coast Marathon 5km Distance –5km Time – 21.06 minutes Place – 5th Female overall / 2nd 15-17 Years Female The Sunshine Coast delivered today with its perfect weather, making it a great day for a run. The atmosphere of the crowd was amazing and I really enjoyed this one. I felt extremely strong throughout the race and was really happy with how I went, coming 5th overall in the females. Trying out my new Mizuno wave riders gave me the support that I needed whilst still maintaining my speed. Loved the colours!! Once again thanks to CLIF Bar Australia for fuelling me for the race and a huge thanks to Mizuno for providing me with entry into the race and the new shoes. Thanks to Coach; Toby Coote, one more step in our long road to success. Next race will be back at the track in Toowoomba with Toowoomba Secondary School Sport athletics. Cheers Macey

QCIS Athletics – Queensland Combined Independent Schools
13/8/18 Race – QCIS Athletics Distance – 1500m and 800m Time – 5.22 (1500) and 2.36 (800) Meet Record Place – 2nd in 1500m and 1st in 800m in U16 Girls It was a nerve racking start being the first QCIS event I have attended but I was excited to see the competition and test my racing ability once again. It was a bit windy heading into the home straight of the track but I managed to tuck in behind someone for majority of the race. It came to the last lap of the 1500 and I could feel my pace dropping so I tried to push through as much as I could but it wasn’t the time that I was looking for in the end. In the 800 I was determined to give it my absolute all and leave nothing left in the tank. I had a good start sitting in second. After I heard the bell for the last lap I knew that I was in with a chance so I started to pick up the cadence and with 300m to go I managed to pass the front girl. The last 200m I just wanted to push it home and try and hold her off. I managed to take out the win and break the 800m record by 2 seconds. Although the times may have not been what I was initially hoping for, I am extremely happy with how I performed and are feeling really strong and healthy for the upcoming races. Huge thanks to CLIF Bar Australia for fuelling me for the race with their BLOKS energy chews. Next race is the Sunshine Coast Marathon 5km this Sunday. |
