Race report- Rainbow beach Triathlon
Date - 11-12th August 2018 Race – Saturday - Individual Triathlon / Sunday - Teams Event Distance – 750/20/5 Result – 2nd 13-14 Years Male / 1st Mixed Teams Rainbow beach triathlon, was a long hard race on the weekend. Racing on the Saturday afternoon, mixed things up a bit then normal as well as a hard run course. I had a good preparation leading up to the race thanks to the amazing products from Clif bar. It was a choppy swim on the Saturday afternoon, over the 750m swim with a large current running from right to left, which myself and coach Toby Coote identified in the warm-up. I had a pretty solid swim coming out of the water and headingT1 about 14th overall. It was a dead flat bike course with some extremely bumpy roads which changed things up a bit, but I managed to get through it and ended up with a pretty good ride. It is a quite slow and hilly run course which kills the legs late in the race, which is where my Clif blocks gave me a massive advantage over others, I felt good throughout the run and was happy to run into 2nd place in my category with a run split time of 19.20. After the race was all about recovering, knowing I had to back up and compete in a team event the next day, with some fellow squad members. In the team I did the swim leg, which I was extremely happy with how I swam and ecstatic to finish 1st overall in the mixed teams event. A massive thanks to Mizuno running, which made the pain of the hills a bit more bearable with some amazing Wave Sonics and to Vorgee with Missile Mirrored pair of goggles that didn’t fault once over the 2 swims.

Race - Qld Athletics Cross Country Champs - Maleny
Distance - 3km Time - 11.21 Place - 9th U/14 Years Boys It was a hard hot race yesterday at Maleny, a very strong field racing on a tough hilly course. I was happy with how I ran and my lead up to the race. It was great to get a solid out on the course that I will be racing on in a few weeks’ time, at the National Cross Country championships. It is a very hilly course which was extremely tough on the legs; I had lead most of the race and was feeling comfortable on every section of the course, unfortunately with about 600m to go in the race my calves really tightened up which effected the rest of the race, but still extremely happy to finish with a 9th place. Nutrition for the race was perfect thanks to CLIF Bar Australia, which kept me going, and the Mizuno running shoes did the job of keeping me light and fast. My next race will be the Rainbow Beach Triathlon this Saturday / Sunday |
