QTS # 1 Robina Tri - Race Report

1/10/2015

Race: Round 1 (Queensland triathlon series) Robina.
Distance: 800m/32km/6km

This morning was perfect weather to wake up and compete. My wake up wasn't to early as I was fortunate to be able to stay at Brodie's Aunt's so my alarm was set for 4:40am to Arrived at the venue at 5:30 for transition opening.

Warm up:
10 minutes with run drills and run through. Legs felt good. But mind wasn't really in the right place. 10 minutes swim warm. It was so long due to the fact I know I need more time to warm up for the swim.

Swim: 800m
Had a very fast start with the girls going out full gas and to myself they seemed as though they never slowed down. I worked hard to get on the girls feet in front, but it just wasn't happening. This put me out of the water in 5th just in front of Brooke Willis

Transition 1
Brooke caught me easy on the run into transition and was able get on the bike much faster than me as I took awhile to get my wetsuit off. Was a good mount onto the bike, however I was a bit slow with getting my shoes on.

Bike: 32km
The wind was pretty strong this morning. But I got low and pushed pretty hard on the bike to catch the girls in front of me. I felt nice on the bike and enjoyed it. I felt as though my bike was good.

Transition 2
Shoes on and went, straight out I went right behind Annelise.

Run: 6km
Legs felt really heavy. I worked hard to try and stay with Anne for the run, however my legs just we're not feeling it. Unfortunately what is normally my best leg in a triathlon became the worst on this day. I was happy I finished though.

What I have learnt from this race:
- Riding the course at least once before the race. I was pretty confused when I was racing on knowing where to go.
- the swim, wow I need to work on swimming.
- the run was very disappointing and I think it a lot mental than physical. I know my body can go faster than that because I've done it before. So I need to work on getting over the pain in my head and go.
