Race - QTS # 2 - Robina Triathlon
Distance - 750 / 24 / 5
Results - 1st 16-19 Years Female / Fastest Female Overall / 13th Place Overall
After a three day music festival the weekend before (thanks cmf) I wasn't expecting too much out of this one. Just wanted to go through the motions and practice my transitions. Although, as it was the second Queensland triathlon series race, there were a few more competitors attending hence the adrenaline was pumping.
I was pretty happy with my swim as I came out of the water 7th (yay me) and that psyched me up for the rest of the race.
My first transition was more fluid than last time, but I still managed to fall behind getting on to the bike. Non the less I caught up to the front pack. There is always a bit of drafting that goes on, but hey, that's racing.
Out of the second transition I was 5th, 5 seconds down from 1st and was able to catch up in the first stretch. From there I worked on relaxing my upper body, high cadence and breathing. In the end it worked well and I was able to come away with a win.
All the SCTA crew had phenomenal performances today. Loads of top places and efforts of grit.
Always a huge thanks to the sponsors for getting us to the events with proper nutrition, equipment and support.
