Another successful weekend of racing by Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action at the Kingscliff Triathlon doubling as the Queensland Olympic Distance Champs and at Rottnest Channel Swim.
Firstly to Kingscliff Triathlon which saw perfect conditions for racing. Which saw Jordan Gover continue his great form in taking out the Qld title (45-49) and 16th overall. Melissa Charlton took out the 35-39 title and 6th female overall but not being a member of TA means she is ineligible for the State title unfortunately as she has been in great form over the past couple of months. Zsolt Dallos battled sickness this week and took its toll on him but still managed to have a great race to take out 2nd (35-39) and also in Qld Champs and 22nd overall. Rounding out the podium finishers in the Qld champs was Rebecca Ungermann who took 3rd (25-29), as too Mitch Baker (25-29). Jessica Lee had another strong showing taking out 11th (30-34)
In the sprint distance, Tania Gover had another great race taking out the 40-44 title and 8th female overall, while Kelly Enright was 6th (30-34). In a very competitive Tempta distance, where a lot of the Junior Boys selected in the Qld team for Nationals were racing, saw SCTA Junior Scholarship Holder Ryan Marsh perform extremely well to finish 3rd (12-13) and 3rd overall. Rounding out the other podium finish was Parker Deutzmann in 3rd (7-9). Scott Marsh had another solid race with 17th (10-12).
On to the 25km Rottnest Channel Swim where Peter Schultz did the solo challenge in 8hr 40 min. With the goal of completing the English Channel this is the first steps of many to get there. A few may not know but Pete has relocated to Sydney to get the cold water swimming needed to prepare for the Channel swim. And by the looks of how he went in Rotto he is on the way to achieving his goal. Great work Pete.
Well done to all that raced. Full results below
