Another busy weekend of racing for the The Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy Athletes and Club Members in action at QTS # 7 Raby Bay Triathlon, Huskisson Triathlon doubling as the Australian Long Course Champs and in Devonport for the Australian Elite + Junior Sprint Champs and Mixed Relay Champs.
Firstly at Raby Bay where the conditions were perfect for racing, no breeze and very humid conditions made for super fast racing. In the Long Course over 900/25/6, we saw Emily Donker and Sophie Burger exit the water together in the Open Female, Emily put the pressure on the bike to lead off the bike with Sophie about 40 secs down. Both Ladies ran well to finish 1st and 2nd respectively. It was Sophie's first podium and payday in the Open Field.
Jordan Gover (45-49) and Kim Alexander (50-54) both had strong races to take out Age Group Wins. SCTA Club Members 2016 Rio Olympian Ryan Fisher stamped his authority on the OPEN Men's field with a strong win while Taylor Elms (30-34) took out his category with the win.
In the Super Sprint was great to see Jazi Coventry 1st (16-19) back for her first race of 2021. Rachel James 1st (35-39) had a strong race after battling the flu. Rob Burger 2nd (55-59) landed on the podium as to Father / Daughter Team of Chloe and Gary Turner 2nd ( Mixed Teams).
Down at Husky for the Australian Long Course Champs saw SCTA Club Member Simon Hearn record a great win in the ELITE Male against a red hot quality field.
Down in Devonport for the Australia Elite and Junior Sprint Champs saw SCTA Club Members perform well with Kelly Ann Perkins 2nd ( ELITE Female). Just missing the podium in the Juniors were Georgie Fredricks 4th ( Female) and Peyton Craig 5th ( Male). The next day saw the Mixed Team Relays where Kelly Ann Perkins gain another silver medal in the Elite's while in the Juniors Georgie Fredricks 2nd while Peyton Craig and Ella Wooldridge 3rd
