A massive weekend of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members in action at Mooloolaba Triathlon, Peaks Challenge and Australian Alpine Ascent.

The 30th Mooloolaba Triathlon didn't disappoint with weather elements and tough racing thrown in. For the standard distance, Australian Titles were on the line with 4500 athletes. There were some amazing performances and massive PB's amongst the crew. All athletes have different goals and finish line times and the SCTA Athletes and Club Members were no different.

Emily Donker 1st (OPEN) had a strong race where she came off the bike with another athlete only to put in a strong run to run away with he win. Sophie Burger 1st (15-19) was crowned Australian champion and a 10 min PB. The always competitive Jordan Gover 2nd (50-54) performed extremely well in a very tough Age Category that saw Kim Alexander 4th. Finishing 3rd and a Bronze Medal was Keith Campbell (35-39) where he produced a 9 min PB from last years Moo Tri and went from 33rd to 3rd place and Emma McInnes (15-19) had a strong day out with a quick 10km run that also saw her take 3rd in the National UniSport Championships.... double 3rd place.

It was great to see Maureen Cummings 3rd (Legends) out and racing and the Big Boy Alex Forrest 4th (Clydesdale 100kg+) continues to improve with each race. Brett Stalley 6th (55-59) always races strong and today was no different to put a solid race in.

SCTA Club Members in action saw Rio Olympian Ryan Fisher 6th (ELITE) and Ryan Marsh 6th (OPEN) and 2nd Place in National Unisport Championships.

Saturday saw the Sprint Distance on a 3 lap Cycle course on wet roads up and around Mooloolaba / Alex Headland foreshore with 1100 athletes. The SCTA Athletes had a great day out with Margo Mackintosh 1st (40-44) and Fastest Female Overall and Sean Fraser 1st (45-49) had a strong race. Taking out 2nd places were Steve Miller (60-64) and Toby Coote (45-49). Just missing the podium was Edward Hayes Wood 4th (25-29), Saul Nicol Rann 4th (14-15) and Elke Madlener 6th (14-15).

SCTA Club Member Brodie Gardner 2nd (OPEN) headed to the Australian Alpine Ascent Triathlon over 3km Swim / 113km Cycle / 22km Run where he was 3 min behind the winner.

Tara Partridge and Tania Gover headed  to the Peaks Challenge at Falls Creek over 235km Cycle Race. Tara went on to finish 39th (41-50 Years) while Tania was forced to retire with an arm problem after a small surgery the week prior. I know these 2 crazies will be plotting a new adventure.

Well done to all that raced. Full results below
