A massive weekend for racing for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action at the Australian Cross Country Champs on Saturday and on Sunday at Sunshine Coast 70.3 and Ballina Triathlon.

On one of the hardest courses going around at the Maleny Golf Course, SCTA had 3 juniors lining up in the Australian Cross Country Championships. SCTA / Protector Aluminium Junior Scholarship Holder Peyton Craig put the perfect race together to claim the National U/14 Years Male Title. He ended up with 3 Gold Medals with the Individual Title, Team Title and Relay Title over 2 days of fast and furious racing.

Not to be outdone Mia Wooldridge was 10th in the 12 Years Girls having a great run where 60 seconds separated the first 10. Ella Wooldridge ran very well against a quality field and girls a year older than her in the U/18 Female and a NZ team, where she finished 67th

The weather gods didn't shine on the Sunshine Coast 70.3 this year. With predictions of torrential rain and storms. Fortunately the storms stayed away but the rain came in bursts throughout the event which made it cooler with light winds and fast times.

SCTA Club Member Simon Hearn had a great race where he was crowned the fastest age Grouper on the course and winning the 25-29 Years. The Team of Michael Hooper / Michael Woodcock / Jason Shortis were the first Team home taking out the Male Teams as well.

There were plenty of SCTA Athletes out in action and all performed extremely well. Tara Partridge and Kelly Enright both produced PB over the distance and had amazing races. Was great to see SCTA Sponsor Grant Elliot from Stratton Finance Mooloolaba out there racing as well. well done to all that raced in the 70.3

While done in Ballina, there was a bit of fine tuning for the upcoming World Champs over the sprint distance. Brett Stalley had a sprint finished and was just pipped out on the category win. Matt Wolstencroft (45-49) took bragging rights over Romy Wolstencroft (18-19) with both 2nd in their respective categories while Pauline Ashley (45-49) was 3rd.

Well done to all that raced. Full results below
