A massive weekend of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Studio Steel Athletes and Club Members in action at the QTS # 2 Moreton Bay Triathlon doubling as Qld Club Championships, The World Ironman Championships in Hawaii, The Chicago Marathon and Swim Mooloolaba.
Drizzling rain and cloudy conditions greeted the athletes for QTS # 2 at Moreton Bay with Club Pride on the line in the Triathlon Queensland Club Championships as well. Emily Donker was the sole participant in the Classic Distance of 2/60/15 where she had a strong showing with the 30-34 Title and First Female overall. a great hit out for her next race at Noosa Triathlon at the end of the month.
Sprint distance over 750/20/5 produced some great results for the Squad with Podium Wins for Emma Doyle (20-24) and Kim Alexander (50-54). Silver Medals to Matthew Phillips, missing the win by 1 sec (30-34) and Steve Miller (60-64) Sophie Burger (16-19) rounded out the podium with a Bronze. Just missing the podium was Cassidy James 4th (30-34), Emma McInnes 5th (16-19), Eddie Woods Hayes 6th (25-29) and Kelly Enright 8th (35-39)
There was so fast and furious racing with the Juniors in the Enticer which saw a dominate display from Addison Houslip taking the Win (U/14) , 3rd Overall and First Female. Millan Power 2nd (U/16) continues to gain experience with each race. Rounding out the Top 10 was Jude Brimelow 8th (U/14) and Emily Simms 10th (U/16)
In the Kids we saw Billie Elsum 6th (10-11) and Marcello Power 9th (10-11). It was a Great Team effort from the SCTA Crew that saw the Club take 3rd Place in the Medium Clubs at the Queensland Club Championships. Well done all Super Proud Coach
At the World Ironman Championships in Hawaii, the conditions were super hot and humid. SCTA had 4 racing over the 2 days of action. This race takes a bit of your soul and for the 4 athletes racing there's was no exception. It is one of those races that everyone wants to gain a start and only a given few get that opportunity. there were a few hiccups with each of the athletes preps leading into the race, but they all had done what they could to get on that start line in the best possible shape they could. Great races from which saw Greg Bush 12th 70-74 in 14:06:55, Angela Vinnicombe 102nd Place 40-44 Years Female in 11:58:43, Lauren Murphy 159th 40-44 Years Female in 12:53:47 and Andrew Schmidt 308th Place 35-39 Years Male in 10:46:24. Awesome effort
Perfect conditions for running at the Chicago Marathon where the Binet Boys lined up to test their wares over the 42.2km Course. Gary claimed bragging rights with a 12th 50-54 Years Male in 2:48:13. In the 25-29 Years Male Cameron was 824th in 3:40:51 with Ben 1127th and just sneaking under the 4 hour barrier with 3:59:43.
Slightly choppy conditions greeted the swimmers at Swim Mooloolaba over the 3km course that saw Duanne Cannell 1st 50-54 Years Male and 2nd Overall. Jenny Meier was 1st 21-24 Years Female while Josh Chrisite 7th 40-44 Years Male.
