A very successful race weekend with 5 Queensland Championships medals and 22 podiums from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes from the Queensland Aquathlon Champs, Kawana Open Swim and Round 3 of the Queensland Tri series all held at Lake Kawana.
It was always going to be a tough weekend especially for all that lined up in the 3 races over 2 days, but all the SCTA / HCAUS athletes competed magnificently with some awesome results from everyone. As a Coach you can only ask for your athletes to do their best and I see it week in week out with the racing that they are doing. We are seeing huge improvements in each race and seeing the progression from these "Training Races" as we move forward to the major races coming up.
There are a lot of great results below with 22 podiums as 1st x 9 (2 x State Champions), 2nd x 6 (1 x Sliver State Champs) 3rd x 7 ( 2 x Bronze State Champs) and 4th x 8, 5th x 7, 6th x 3 that were just out of medal contention. So as you can see another successful weekend.
Female Junior Scholarship recipient Savannah Wayner started the proceedings with a State Champion title in 16-19 Years Female and 3rd OPEN Female, while Male Junior Scholarship recipient Jake Hynes was State Silver medallist 16-19 Years, 8th Open Male and race winner for 1500m Lake Swim. Kevin Hammond continued his dominance of the Clydesdale division with his 3rd win this season. Fin Barlow was the fastest overall in the Mini kids Aquathlon beating the boys home and taking out the State Champs 7-9 Years. Great to see the inaugural SCTA / HCAUS Junior scholarship recipient Michael Hooper back training and racing with a dominant performance in the 20-24 years male and 11th overall. Maddison Dutton (20-24), Mel Charlton (30-34) and Tahlea Corcoran (U/14 Enticer) also claim category wins.
Taj Jones (14-15) bounced back in the Tri to record 2nd as did Jemma Hynes (7-9), Romy wolstencroft (16-19) and Anastasia Heikkila (14-15) while Matt Nixon (7-9) and Macey Roberts (12-13) both took Bronze State Medals at Aquathlon. Paris Shield (14-15) and Lachlan Sinclair (14-15) 3rd in the triathlon.
A special mention to Elliot Gray (5th 14-15) backed up in the triathlon after a crash on Thursday. He was a bit stiff and sore but still gave it his all. Well done to all that competed and results below
