A great weekend for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy Athletes that competed at Queensland Schools Cross Country Champs and Jetty to Jetty Fun Run despite the weather of rain and wind.
Up at Maryborough we saw the SCTA Juniors at Qld Schools Cross Country where the constant rain and drizzle turned the run course into a wet, muddy and boggy track with all runners covered in mud from head to toes. There were some great performances which saw 2 SCTA athletes selected for the National Cross Country Champs in Canberra.
Peyton Craig (11 years Boys) took out the Qld Title with a hard fought win. Romy Wolstencroft (17 Years Girls) cemented her spot with a 5th place with not much separating the top 6. Jake Hynes (17 Years boys) was 15th about a 1 min off the pace over 6km and Meg Roberts (16 Years Girls) was 18th.
At the Jetty to Jetty the ladies of Malin Olson (Half Marathon) and Kirra Seidel (10km) both ran thru the rain and wind to take out 2nd female overall in their respective distances and take away some prize money. Marilyn Shrapnel (60-69) was 3rd in the 5km and to round it out Etienne Schoeffer (French Triathlete/Student) was 6th overall in the Men's half marathon and 2nd 18-29 Years.
