Great work from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action over the weekend.
At Queensland All Schools Championships on home soil at Lake Kawana we had 15 Juniors lining up. Very warm conditions and a strong breeze meant a tough bike ride on a very technical course that is hard to get any rhythm on.
SCTA Junior Scholarship holders Ella wooldridge let the charge with a strong ride and run to take out 2nd Senior Female and Ryan Marsh had a strong swim to be up there but pushed the bike a little to hard to hit the bitumen on the bike. He got back up to finish off strongly with a 8th Senior Male.
In the Senior Females Erin Wooldridge (6th), Kayleigh Foster (10th) and Jorja Matthews (14th) went up a category as well while Macey Roberts (11th). All girls will take out positives from the race that they will implement in future races.
In the Intermediate Boys Peyton Craig went up a category racing boys a year older and had a strong swim and run to finish 5th. Both Jericho Pogany (24th) and Scott Marsh (48th) showed improvements from last season race here and take valuable experience in this development.
In the Junior Female for the first time was Finn Barlow (15th) and Zoe Davis (1 lap short on bike). In a very completive field. It is great experience that they will take to State Schools in Hervey Bay next February.
There were some big numbers in the Primary schools Aquathlon for both the Boys and Girls with 120 and 111 competitors respectively. In the Boys Jake Hammond (36th) and Zak Hammond (89th) and in the Girls Pipi Barlow (29th) and Mia Davis (56th). While in the Kids Aquathlon Girls, Billie Elsum had a great race to finish 35th.
On Saturday the Queensland Cross Triathlon Champs was held in Brisbane over 1km Swim, 22.5km Mt Bike and 6km Trail Run. Its been a huge 2 weeks for Brodie Gardner and partner Kate Schultz welcoming the birth of their first Child Ollie, Brodie put a performance in that didn't see his rivals get close to him taking the OPEN Queensland Championship Title convincingly. Unfortunately a mechanical on the Mt Bike course saw Jade Ingram have to withdraw from the race.
Well done to all that raced. Full results below
