A very successful weekend of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that competed at the QTS # 3 Kawana Triathlon and Queensland Aquathlon Championships, Bribie Triathlon Race # 2 and Point to Pinnacle Half Marathon.
QTS # 3 at Kawana never disappoints and turned on the storm front on the Saturday afternoon. It just a tradition and it hits. The storm made way to very warm and humid conditions on race morning especially on the run legs. SCTA was well represented across the OPEN and Age categories. Lucy Bowden made it her 3rd successive podium in the OPEN Females with a 2nd. While in the Male's Michael Hooper had a great race to finally land on the podium with a 3rd. It is his first podium in the OPEN's at QTS race. SCTA men also filled 4th Brodie Gardner and Peyton Craig 5th stepping up out of the Junior category in the OPEN's.
Age Category wins went to Zsolt Dallos (35-39) and Jordan Gover (45-49). Clint Jones 2nd (25-29) and 3rd places went to Rebecca Howell (25-29), Gary Turner (70-74) and Grant Elliot (Clydesdale 100kg+) Just missing the podium was Chloe Gover 4th (30-34), Brett Stalley 4th (55-59).
QTS # 3 also incorporated the Triathlon Queensland Aquathlon Championships. State Champions to Chloe Turner (25-29) and Tania Gover (40-44) while in 2nd Place to Billie Elsum (7-9) and Martin Anderson 3rd (45-49)
At Bribie Triathlon for Race # 2 over the 1/30/8 distance saw Jessica Lee land on the podium again with a 3rd (35-39). In the Short Course of 300/10/3 Marilyn Shrapnel continued her winning form taking out the 70-74 Female title.
Down in Tasmania we had Charlotte Durand line up in the Point to Pinnacle Half Marathon dubbed as the Worlds Toughest Half marathon with 1270m of elevation starting at waters edge and running up Mt Wellington. Charlotte had a great run to finish 31st 25-29.
