A massive weekend for for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members in action at the 38th Edition of the Noosa Triathlon Festival, Oceanside 70.3 and Queensland All Schools Athletics Championships.
Noosa Triathlon Festival kicked off on the Wednesday with the Run Swim Run that saw Blair Day 1st (17+) and 3rd Overall in his preparations for the Coolongatta Gold. Billie Elsum gave away plenty of years in the 8-13 Years where she finished 28th.
The traditional 1km Ocean Swim on the Friday afternoon saw some choppy conditions where we had a few lined up. SCTA Club Member Damian Bulters 3rd (30-39). Kim Alexander 8th (50-59) while Torah Rose 12th (16-19). The Hammond Family grudge match race saw dad Kevin get belted by his 2 sons Jake and Zak.
The big one the 38th Noosa Triathlon saw perfect conditions for racing early before the winds picked up around 8.00am. It was quite gusty in places. The hot conditions on the Saturday were eased a bit overnight with he change that saw a drop in temperature. It did warm up as the morning went on. Plenty of first time Athletes at Noosa this year as well. Was great to see everyone racing and enjoying themselves.
SCTA Athletes and Club Members were on fire with some amazing results from the Crew with 6 Age Group Wins and 2 x 2nd Place. Age Group Race Wins to Ethan Close (15-19), Sophie Burger (15-19), Jordan Gover (50-54), Greg Bush (65-69) and SCTA Club Members Damian Bulters (35-39) and Zsolt Dallos (40-44). 2nd places to Callum Close (15-19) and Kim Alexander (50-54).
6th Places went to Emma Doyle (20-24) and Maureen Cummings (Legends Female). Angela Viinicombe 11th (40-44). With massive numbers in every category it was great to see a few sneak in the Top 30 with Richie Leech 19th (30-34), Summer Clarke 20th (20-24), Rebecca Howell 24th (25-29) and Cassidy Redden 27th (25-29). SCTA Club Members Paul Marchant 5th (OPEN), Ryan Marsh 6th (OPEN), Simon Hearn 10th (ELITE) Brittany Dutton 11th (ELITE)
Queensland All schools Athletics Champs saw 2 Athletes head down and rain in the 1500m in their respective Age Group. Eva Nicol Rann 8th (U/13) and Millan Power 10th (U/14). Over in America for the Oceanside 70.3 saw SCTA Club Professional Carrie Lester take 6th Place.
