A massive weekend of action for Sunshine Coast triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action at Sunshine Coast 703, World 70.3 Championships in America and Beijing International Triathlon.

A huge weekend at the Sunshine Coast 70.3. Under perfect conditions for racing there were some epic battles out there, some hard luck stories and lots of fun. Well done to all that competed on our backdoor. SCTA had 23 athletes in action where we saw some great results and PB's on the course.

Matthew Duncan lead the way with a win in 25-29 and was 3rd Age grouper overall and 19th place overall amongst the Pro's. He has relocated from Western Australia to train over here. The MOFO's 2.0 team which consisted of Romy Wolstencroft (Swim), Jake Hynes (Cycle) and Simon Hearn (Run) took out the Mixed Team Win and in the process was the fastest team overall. Not bad from the 2 SCTA / Protector Aluminium Junior Scholarship holders and Simon who flew out Sunday night to be a guide at the World Para Triathlon Champs on Thursday in Rotterdam. Kate Schultz had a very strong showing to take 3rd place on the podium (30-34) and 7th Female overall amongst the Pro's

Of the other SCTA athletes Mel Charlton (35-39) and Katie Kenny (40-44) had great races to finish 5th place in their categories, along with Kirra Seidel 7th (Pro), Michael Woodcock 8th (45-49), Hannah Blanchett 11th (25-29), Olivia Latimer 12th (35-39), Mitch Baker 14th (25-29) and Nicholas Hull 18th (Pro)

2016 Rio Olympian Ryan Fisher lined up in the Beijing International Triathlon overt he Olympic distance event. He was in catch up mode after the swim chasing down early leader and Rio Olympic Bronze medallist Henri Schoeman. After a strong ride where Ryan had the fastest split he was in front on the run but just got run down in the end to finish 2nd place 25 seconds behind the winner.

At World 70.3 in Chattanooga, we had Lindsay Keating competing in the 35-39 Years Female category which had 228 competitors where she finished 115th. On a very tough and demanding course, Lindsay put her all in on the day. Not bad for someone that has only been in the sport for a very short period of time. The experience that she will gain from this race will help the development in the future.
