Its been a busy month of racing on / racing off / Lockdowns / Restrictions for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members in action in SE Queensland and Around the World
Rainbow Beach Triathlon "Take 2" after the initial date was headed with the lockdown, it was postponed to the 28th/29th August where Sophie Burger had 2 great days of racing that she will take valuable experience out of. Especially Day 2 under fatigue, she took out the Race win in her Category (15-16) on both days and walked away with 3rd Female overall and some pocket money. Coach Toby Coote lined up on Day 1 to take out the 45-49 Years Win.
Pomona King of the Mountain saw SCTA Juniors Wade and Marc Wallis line up in the 3.4km Prince of the Mountain that saw Wade 2nd and Marc 4th in 12 Years Boys. They have been laying a great foundation down and the results are a testament to this.
Jetty to Jetty Fun Run saw Marilyn Shrapnell 1st (70-79) 5km, while in the 10km Run Steve Miller 15th (60-69) and Richard Padgett 45th (40-49).
Yeppoon Triathlon Festival saw a return to racing for Darren Matthews 8th (19) and Mackenzie Matthews 5th (12-13)
Queensland Duathlon Championships were held at Toowoomba in very tough, cold and windy conditions on a new course at Wellcamp. Perfect place for the racing on very smooth hotmix roads within the airport compounds. In the Sprint Distance of 5km Run / 20km Cycle / 2.5km Run, Margo Mackintosh 1st (40-44) and State Champion while Sophie Burger 2nd (16-17) had a strong race.
SCTA Club Members in the Standard Distance of 10km Run / 40km Cycle / 5km Run saw Brodie Gardner 1st (35-39), Paul Marchant 1st (25-29) and Ryan Marsh 1st (18-19) all taking out the Queensland State Title.
Brodie Gardner took out the Race Win at Rocky Trail Entertainment MTB GP Sunshine Coast in the Solo 6 hour Event in convincing style on the weekend.
SCTA Professional Club Members have been in action overseas with Kelly Ann Perkins being the 46th Australian Rep at World Champs with the Grand Final WTC at Edmonton over the Standard Distance for 19th Elite Female. The week prior KP lined up in the WTC Montreal for a 39th Place Elite Female Final. Carrie Lester taking out the Race Win at one of the toughest long Course Races at Embrunman for the 3rd Time and Lined up in the Inaugural Collins Cup for a 3rd place in Match # 6
