A busy 2 weeks of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes and Club Members that have been in action in Queensland and interstate at Peaks Challenge, Australian Alpine Ascent, Geelong 70.3, Bribie Triathlon Race 4 + Series Results, Trex Cross Tri and Dirt Master, World Swim Series and Australian Athletics Championships.
In Sydney Millan Power competed in the Australian Athletics Championships in the U/15 category in the 800, 1500 and 3000m runs. Started on the Saturday with the 1500 where he finished 13th and a 4 sec PB. Heading into the 3000m on Sunday with plenty of confidence after the 1500, Millan executed the race to a tee with a 15 sec PB and 7th Place in a 9.22. Unfortunately the tank was empty for the 800m on the Monday that saw him finish 26th. It was a great meet for Millan and will take plenty of experience and confidence that will be used for future outings.
On home turf at Mooloolaba saw the next round of the World Swim Series with perfect conditions for swimming. In the 3km, Duanne Cannell took the win (50-54) and Overall Race Winner. Richard Padgett 6th (45-49) In the 1600m we saw Kim Alexander 3rd (50-54). 800m swim saw Rachel James 1st (35-39) and Jayden James 11th (11-15).
Margo Mackintosh headed to Port Stephens for the TREX Cross Triathlon and Dirt Master with racing on Saturday and Sunday. Cross Tri was on the Saturday that saw Margo out of her comfort zone on the MTB but raced strongly to finish 1st (40-44). Backing up on Sunday for the 21.1km Trail run saw her take category win 1st (40-44). Dirt Master where they combined times from the Cross Tri and Trail Run saw Margo crowned Dirt Master Female Champion.
The Finale of the Bribie Tri Series saw some fast racing with Jordan Gover 1st (50-54) and Steve Miller 2nd (60-64). In the Short Course we saw Addison Houslip back racing with a 1st (11-12) and the Fastest Female. The ever consistent Marilyn Shrapnel 2nd (70-74). Winning the Series awards were Steve Miller (60-64) and Marilyn Shrapnel (70-74).
Sunshine Coast Uni Track was the venue for the 3000m Track Challenge that saw Millan Power 1st (12-15) and Emma McInnes 4th (U/20) both have great runs after a big week of training.
Geelong 70.3 produced 2 great results that saw Emma Doyle 1st (18-24) and Greg Bush 2nd (70-74).
SCTA Club Member Brodie Gardner competed in the Australian Alpine Ascent over the 3km Swim, 113km cycle and 22km run as he builds towards Port Mac Ironman. Brodie had a strong showing to record 2nd OPEN Male.
Tara Partridge headed down for the 235km Peak Challenge Cycle Race where she had a strong day out to record 39th 41-50.
