A hectic 2 weekends of racing for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action Maleny Mountain Run Challenge, Queensland schools Athletics Championships, Yarrawonga Multisport Festival, Bribie Island Triathlon Series Race # 1 and Great Barrier Reef Marathon.

Round 1 of the Bribie Island Triathlon series was held on Sunday and there were some great results for the SCTA crew over the Sprint distances, Melissa Charlton continued her great form taking out the 35-39 Years Female and 7th Female overall. Gary Turner (65-69) was also on the podium with 3rd, while Josh Corocran just missed the podium with a 5th (20-24). 

​In the Short Course is was great to see both Chloe and Julia Turner back racing with Chloe taking the honours with a 1st and Julia 4th in 25-29.

On the border of NSW and Victoria the Yarrawonga Multisport Festival which doubled as a selection race for the Australian Team for the 2018 World Champs for both the Sprint and Olympic Distances. SCTA had 3 ladies down there racing and pick up some valuable points for selection with Pauline Ashley 5th (45-49 OD), Tania Gover 6th (40-44 Sprint) and Kelly Enright 7th (30-34 Sprint). Well done Ladies

In a very spectacular part of Australia, Dan Collins lined up in the Great Barrier Reef Marathon in Cairns. In warm and humid conditions, Dan ran extremely well to finish 4th (40-49) and 6th Overall.

Down in Brisbane for the Queensland Schools Athletics Championships saw 5 SCTA athletes in action. Peyton Craig came away with 2 x 2nd places in 12 Years Boys 800m and 1500m where he was selected in the Qld Team for the National Athletics Champs in December. Finn Barlow lined up in the Tetrathon (100m, 800m , Long Jump and Shot Put) and finished 8th Place. Meg and Macey Roberts along with Ryan Marsh who all ran strongly in the heats of their respective races.

​On a very hilly run course, athletes raced in the Maleny Mountain Run Challenge where Romy Wolstencroft stamped her authority in the Female by taking out the race win. Josh Corcoran took out 3rd Male overall.
