Race Updates
Been a big couple of weeks for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action at Yeppoon Triathlon Festival, Mizuno Brisbane Half Marathon, National schools Cross Country Championships and City to Surf.
In very chilly conditions, Peyton Craig competed at the National Schools Cross Country where he was awarded the Junior Captain of the Queensland Team. In a very competitive field Peyton finished 8th Place 12 years Boys which saw him only 22 seconds behind the winner. They backed up next day with the Queensland Team taking 2nd place in the Relays.
In an iconic event with a steep history of not only world class runners but also massive competitor numbers, this years Sydney City to Surf was no different. Drew Westbrook (528th 40-49) lined up amongst 80 000 other runners to take part in this great event.
At Yeppoon Triathlon Festival we had Jonathon Goerlach (Para Tri) with guide Simon Hearn take out the 35-39 years category win when they finished 13th overall. It was good hit out for Jono and Simon leading into the World Triathlon Para champs on 15th September. They will race Townsville Triathlon Festival this weekend. Hannah Blanchett stepped up into the Open Female race where she has been working on her swim and seeing the benefits from that with a 6th place.
In the sprint distance we saw Chris George line up in the 30-34 Years. Not only did he take out his category win, but also the overall race title.
On the same weekend we had Selena and Mark Corocoran along with Warren Venaglia take part in the Mizuno Brisbane Half Marathon. In very competitive running fields all 3 ran great times to finish off well in their respective age categories.
