Queensland All schools at Lake Kawana saw some cloudy cover from the storms the night before and some light winds on the bike course. It is also a selection race for a few of the regions for the State School Champs to be held at Hervey Bay in February. Some fast and furious racing in amongst all the competitors. These races act as a good build into the rest of the season and allows the athletes to put some measures in place that they will use and learn from in future races. Apart form the Senior Waves, the rest are divided into 2 separate waves so it is always tough understanding where you are in each respective race.
in the Intermediate Female, Sophie Burger (4th) had another solid performance while Ella Crawford (12th) both girls will take a lot from this race that will be put into use in future races while in the Males a relatively new comer to Triathlon, Saul Nicol-Rann (31st) had a strong debut at this event that he will learn from for future races. In the Senior Male Nicholas Morley (19th) had a strong bike / run combo with his swim a work in process at the moment, while in the females, Torah Rose (13th) had a strong swim / cycle combo as she builds her run fitness after arriving from NSW in last school holidays and Jorja Matthews (18th) is slowly building back. In the Junior Male and Female all relatively newcomers raced well and enjoyed the experience that they will learn from and implement into future races with Sam McClarron (36th), Jake Hammond (44th), Tabitha Fraser (56th) and Mackenzie Matthews (64th)
