Awesome results from Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action at the ITU World Multisport Championships in Canada and at Australian Athletics National Cross Country Championships over the weekend.
SCTA was represented by 4 athletes at the ITU World Multisport Championships in Penticton Canada from the 25th - 27th August. They competed in 5 races which saw the SCTA tally of 2 x Bronze, 2 x 4th places and a 5th place. We may have had a small team but they performed remarkably well considering most had a few issues to overcome before they made the journey to Canada.
I will start of with Jordan Gover. He said to me at the start of last year "All I want to do is get my name on the honour page of results on the SCTA website" What can I say, well you have and it is on their as part of the history of the great Squad / Club that we have. You are a fierce competitor but at the same time one of the most humblest characters I know. The support and loyalty you show does not go unrecognised amongst your family, friends and fellow competitors and this Coach.
To go so close within 4th place in the 45-49 Years Aquathlon (18 seconds between 1st-4th) only be run down in the finish chute where you had nothing else to give. I know you were disappointed being so close, but to refocus and get back to racing for the Aquabike where you got that podium medal with a 3rd place. You are etched in history as a medalist at world champs and forever on the honour board of SCTA World Championships Medalist. Legend. Bring on Rotterdam.
A lot of you won't know Rebecca Ungermann. She came to me at start of the year and asked if I would write her program for her World Champ assault on the Long Course in Canada and Olympic Distance in Rotterdam. Now it hasn't been a perfect preparation with her health, but we got you to that start line in the best possible shape we could, based on the hands that we were dealt with. You trusted the process and believed in what I was getting you to do. The hard work was rewarded with a podium medal with 3rd place 25-29. Even a headache on race morning couldn't stop you. Never easy when you work full-time, Coach of BOSS Multisport and train on top of all that as well. Bring on Rotterdam. Well done Bec. Very well deserved.
Now this lady deserves a medal just for getting on that start line. Tania Gover, what you go thru in your daily life with Lupus, battered shoulders, stuffed wrists and the list goes on. You never once whinge about it. You get in, do what you can, when you can and do it with a smile and gratitude. Like your husband Jordan, you are very humbled and a role model to so many out there that watch in awe of what you do. To just miss that podium with a 4th place 40-44, just shows how much drive you have just to get on that line. In a day and age where so many whinge, you just do. It is always a pleasure to have you as part of this squad. One word - Champion!! Well done
Last but not least. The Baywatch star, Zsolt Dallos. You put it out there on race day in every race that you do. Today was no different. You rode that bike like you stole it, fastest bike split 35-39, and toughed it out on the run. To finish 5th place in a very competitive age group, and 21st overall amongst all the age groups, shows the calibre of athlete you are. You get in, do the hard work, and the results follows. Well done Big Man. Awesome result
Down in Wollongong for the Athletics Australia National Cross Country Champs, where we had Meg Roberts (45th) and Emma Dann (46th) in the U/18 Female and Ryan Marsh (49th) in U/16 Male. In very fast and furious racing all 3 performed well against seasoned runners that specialise in cross country running. Looking good for the start of the Triathlon season which is upon us.
While in Brisbane for the 21st running on the famous Bridge to Brisbane Run, we had 2018 Rio Olympian Ryan Fisher toeing the start line. In a super competitive field Ryan ran a 30.02 to take out 3rd place overall and 2nd in 25-29 Years.
Well done to all that raced. Full results below.
