Last weekend we saw Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium athletes in action at the Queensland Schools Cross Country Championships in Brisbane and at the Moreton Mongrel Marathon and Half Marathon.
At Queensland Schools Cross Country Champs Peyton Craig qualified for the Qld team that will head to Tasmania for the National Champs. He was involved in a sprint finish where 2 seconds separated the first 4 with Peyton taking the silver medal. He backed up the next day to take 3rd place in the teams relay.
Jazzy shults, Meg and Macey Roberts, Ryan Marsh, Kayleigh Foster and Emma Dann all ran well in their respective age categories. Never easy going up against full time runners, but they raced well. Meg backed up with a bronze medal in the Team relays the day after the individual races.
Onto the Moreton Mongrel that consisted of all running on the sand and sand dunes for the Marathon and Half Marathon distances. Kate Gazzard had a strong showing in the marathon where she took out the overall race win by 22 mins in a time of 4.41.06. Not just female but also beat the males in too!! While Hubby Tim Jarrold took part in his first ever half marathon thru the sands and dunes as well where he finished 4th male in a time of 3.02.33. Well done you 2 legends.
