Race Updates
Sunshine Coast Tri Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes were in action at Hervey Bay 100, Kingscliff Triathlon and Race # 4 of the SCCC Summer Crit Series. With all 3 events held in very hot and humid conditions, the heat was always going to be a factor and we saw that across the board. There were some PB's and lots of category wins across the board.
The Girls had a day out up in Hervey Bay where they dominated the races they competed in. Meg Roberts, Macey Roberts and Finn Barlow all won their categories and also took out the race wins as well. Rachel Cullen took out her category win as well. Kirra Seidel battled hard in the heat to come away with 2nd overall Female after leading off the bike. She was run down by Kym who had won the 2 previous titles. Katie Kenny was back on the podium once again with 2nd (40-44) after deciding not to enter WA Ironman. Brad Teys (45-49) and Wade Scougall (40-44) just missed the podium with a 4th place each.
Down at Kingscliff we had Jessica Lee do a PB on the way to 12th (30-34) and great to see Rob Wilson back with a 12th also in (40-44).
On Friday the SCTA juniors and Big Dog (Kev Hammond) went down to Caloundra for Race # 4 of the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club Summer Crit Series. With some hot and fast racing on the Friday evening. All raced well and learnt some valuable lessons in draft legal racing. Well done to Taj Jones (B Grade) and Elliot Gray ( C Grade) on taking home some money. Well done to all that raced over the weekend
