A big weekend for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Junior Athletes at the Queensland All Schools Triathlon Champs at Lake Kawana. It was the selection race for the Sunshine Coast Region to select a team to compete at the Queensland Schools Triathlon Champs in February next year.

SCTA Junior Athletes dominated the selection in the Triathlon with our juniors being the 1st Sunshine Coast Athlete in 4 of the 6 categories. One of those categories we didn't have an athlete and in the Senior Female unfortunately Romy Wolstencroft punctured early in the cycle leg after a great swim and would pressed hard for the race win. But that's racing.

It was a great hit out for the athletes to see where they are at the start of the season. With major races not till December and with athletes still in heavy training it was great to see how they would race in a tired presence. All in all they handled themselves very well and have taken some valuable experience that they will take into the coming races.

Peyton Craig (Aquathlon Male) took out the race win and a state title at the same time. Kayleigh Foster (Junior Female) had a great race set up by a strong swim to take 2nd place. Jake Hynes backed up well from Noosa Triathlon a week earlier to be pressing up the front but the legs were still a little heavy from the race. He finished 5th (Senior Male). Jazzy Shults showed great determination to take 6th (Junior Female).

The SCTA Junior Scholarship recipients both had solid days out racing with Kaya Shults 7th (Intermediate Female) with Ryan Marsh 11th (Junior Male) both came across as 1st Sunshine Coast region, While Meg Roberts 9th (Senior Female) continued her strong racing.
Well done to the "Old Boy" Sam Penny who lined up in the Masters Pan Pac Swimming titles on the Gold Coast over the weekend where he bagged 3 medals with a win in the 50m Back and 3rd in 100m Breast and 200m Free. Nice Work Sam
