Another successful weekend for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that raced at the finale of the Queensland Tri Series at Raby Bay wrapping up the 7 race series and awarding series winners, while at Mooloolaba the Ocean swim Series was in action, and NZ for the Taupo 70.3
QTS # 7 saw cool conditions for a notoriously hot race. the cloud cover was welcomed sight for all competitors. A high tide saw perfect conditions for swimming and a strong breeze out on the bike and run course.
In the Long Course over 900/25/6, Lachlan Kerin 5th (OPEN Male) lined up in his first QTS for the year. Taking Age Group Category Wins included Rebecca Howell (25-29 + 8th Female Overall), Pauline Ashley (45-49 12th Female Overall) and Brett Stalley (55-59).
Super Sprint over 400/15/4 saw Jericho Pogany 8th (14-15) while in the Kool Kids saw Billie Elsum 18th (7-9)
It was great to see SCTA club Member / Professional / Olympian Ryan Fisher line up. it was the first race in the series for many years. He was in dominating form leading off the bike and was never troubled on the run leg to take out the Race Win. We wish Ryan all the best with his pursuit of a 2nd Olympic berth at Tokyo with the upcoming selection races
Across the ditch Norm Marsh lined up in the Taupo 70.3 where they had perfect conditions for racing. Norm is back after a knee operation and starting to get that full fitness back. He had a solid day out to finish 23rd (55-59) in a time of 5:35:36
While at Mooloolaba for the Open Water swims over the 3km, 1.6km and 800m distances saw some great results from the SCTA Crew. In the 3km Duanne Cannell 1st (50-54) and 4th Overall. In the 1.6km Both fine tuning for next weekends Mooloolaba Triathlon where Ben Cook 2nd (35-39) and Michael Glover 3rd (30-34). In the 800m it was a battle of the Hammond Family where Jake took bragging rights again with 1st (10-14 + 3rd Overall) over Zak 2nd (10-14 + 4th Overall) with Kevin 1st (40-44 + 7th Overall) and Angie 1st (40-44)
