The first 6 months of 2015-16 Season (July to December) has been a pretty hectic one indeed for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes and Coach. I have had athletes competing all over the world and also in Australia both domestically and nationally.

SCTA was recognized at the inaugural Sunshine Coast Sports Federation Sport Industry awards where we were highly commended for the work that has been done over the past 13 years. As I don’t do the coaching for the awards but it is very humbling to be recognized for the outstanding achievements that we have achieved over the years

I have been coaching internationally as well with PNG, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Sweden and Philippines represented. The season started off with the 3 Filipino’s (after being based on the Coast for the 3 months prior) competing at the South East Asian (SEA) Games where Claire Adorna took out the SEA Games Title and Race Win

Then I was invited to Port Moresby for the Pacific Games at start of July by PNG Athlete Rachael James to support her preparation for the Games. Where I was also asked to do some live commentary for the Triathlon on the NTIV channel where they showed all the Pacific Games events live throughout Australia. Rachael had a great race where she finished 5th and was the first of the Commonwealth Nations to finish (she represented PNG at 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games). Rachael has decided to base herself on the Sunshine Coast training under myself and the SCTA crew to prepare for 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

The experience in PNG and Port Moresby was amazing but also reinforces how lucky and fortunate we are to live in an amazing place here in Australia

With athletes competing at World 70.3 in Austria, World Triathlon Champs Chicago, World Ironman Champs Hawaii, World Duathlon Champs and World Xterra (Off road) Triathlon Champs. It has been a massive schedule and balancing act with coaching and preparations for the athletes.

So as you can see it has been a fantastic start to the season and I couldn’t be prouder of the way the SCTA team has performed to date. The most pleasing thing from the program is the amount of juniors coming thru the SCTA coaching program and we are getting results from the skill development that has been put in place.

My aim 13 years ago was to set up a program that we nurture the juniors thru the ranks to one day having them represent the ITU Junior level at World Champs. We I can say that we have achieved that with Savannah making the Australian Junior Team. With the standard of Juniors coming thru I can say that she won’t be the last one to represent Australia at the Junior level and possibly go on to maybe the Commonwealth Games or Olympics.

SCTA upgraded the Team Van just recently and have joined forces with Mercedes Sunshine Coast for this to happen. It is the current model and in White and I believe it enhances the Sponsors and SCTA name. It only took me forty years to get my first brand new vehicle. If you are ever in the market for a new Mercedes let me know and I can put you contact with them.
The New Year and the leading months after will be another hectic time for SCTA / HCAUS Coach and Athletes but with the results so far I look forward to what each athlete will achieve. Whether it is PB's, Race Win's, Category Win's, but most importantly improvements. All they can is the best they can and if I see smiles and happy athletes then this Coach will be proud and happy. Keep up the great work

A lot of this isn’t possible without the ongoing support of the Sponsors of the SCTA and the SCTA / HCAUS Junior Scholarship program. So I would like to say once again thanks for the ongoing support, as these results don’t happen purely on their own.

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year. Enjoy
