What a great weekend of racing by Sunshine Coast triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes at Queensland Triathlon Series Race # 1 at Raby Bay. With 21 athletes in action we saw 13 athletes on the podium including 9 wins. We had overall wins from Romy Wolstencroft (Sprint), Jazzy Shults (enticer) and Finn Barlow (Kool Kids). Over in Rotterdam we had 3 athletes in action at the World Triathlon Championships as well. Amazing Effort by the whole SCTA Team.

SCTA / Protector Aluminium Junior Scholarship Holder Romy Wolstencroft led the charge at Raby Bay with a strong swim and cycle that saw her about 30 seconds behind the leader coming into T2. That is where she stamped her authority to lead after the first lap and was never headed to take out the race win and finish 14th overall.

It was a strong showing also from Lucy Bowden, not only taking out her category win (25-29) but also 4th Female overall. Also to land on top of the winners podium where Maureen Cummings (55-59) and Gary Turner (65-69). Hannah Blanchett (25-29) was 3rd in her category and was 10th Female overall. Also landing on the 3rd place dais was Ryan Marsh (14-15) and Orla Gallagher.

The Enticer was held over a 200/5/2 and saw Jazzy Shults (U/14) dominate all the female by taking out the overall win and finishing 8th overall amongst the males. Peyton Craig (U/14) was 3rd amongst some strong competition in his category that saw him 3rd overall amongst all the males. Jack Dann took out the win (U/16) and is showing great improvement each time he races. Was great to see Mackenzie Cathcart, Zoe Davis and Scott Marsh also continue to improve with each race

In the Kool Kids over a 100/2/400, Finn Barlow (10-11) continued her strong showing with a win in her category and the fastest female overall and 5th overall amongst the boys. While Parker Dueztmann (7-9) winner and was 7th overall amongst the older competitors. Pipi Barlow, Bonnie Cathcart and Ava Foreman are showing great progress from their training.

At the World Triathlon Championships, Simon Hearn was guide for Jonathon Goerlach in the PTVI Para Triathlon. Under grey skies and wet roads, the boys came out of the water in around 10th place and started to move the competitors in the cycle leg. A strong run moved them up into 6th place overall. Jordan Gover (Sprint 45-49) and Rebecca Ungermann (Olympic 25-29) where both backing up from the World Multisport Championships where they both medalled. There was very strong competition in both categories with Jordan finishing 7th and Rebecca 50th. Both had great races and put every on the line. Nice work.
