Another couple of big race weekends for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action at the Allez Sport Sunshine Coast Cross Country Series Race # 2 at Ben Bennet Park and Race # 3 at Maleny Golf Course, Ironman Port Macquarie and 70.3, Queensland All Schools Cross Country at Yatala, Island Charity Swim, Mallorca 70.3, Lesley Thompson Memorial Crit, Ultraman Australia and Byron Bay Triathlon.

Byron Bay Triathlon was held in windy conditions with a choppy swim, a windy bike on a 10km loop, and run leg along the front of Byron Bay Beachfront. It has always been a happy hunting ground for SCTA athletes. In the Olympic Distance, Nicholas Hull led the charge with a 6th (OPEN) while Erin Reid 6th (40-44).

In the sprint distance Michael Hooper claimed the bragging rights with a win (20-24) and 4th overall. Romy Wolstencroft took out the 18-19 title, 2nd Female and 5th overall just edging out her Dad, Matt Wolstencroft 1st (45-49) and 5th Overall with only 17 seconds separating all 3. Not to be outdone Kayleigh Foster win (14-15) and 4th Female Overall.

Mallorca 70.3 was a good hunting ground for Marion Tuin (30-34) where she took out her category, the overall fastest female (Age Group only race) on the day and Qualified for the World 70.3. Nice Work Marion

For Rounds 2 and 3 of the Allez Sport Cross Country Series, SCTA athletes have performed extremely well with 5 x wins, 1 x 2nd and 6 x 3rd. Peyton Craig took out a course record on the weekend at Maleny Golf Course.

Island Charity Swim is a 11km swim from Mudjimba, around Old Woman Island and then to Mooloolaba. Both Angelique Brearley and Emily Baker both took on the event as individual swimmers. Perfect conditions greeted them and they both swam extremely well with Ange just under the 3hr mark and Emily in 3hrs 8 mins. In the process they raised much needed funds that go towards the Nambour and Currimundi Special Schools. Well done Ladies.

Port Macquarie Ironman and 70.3 where held in very good conditions and doubled as the Australian Ironman Champs. Mitch Baker was 5th (25-29) and Qualified for Kona for the World Ironman Champs, while Dan MacPherson was 6th (30-34). In the 70.3 Amy MacPherson was 4th (25-29) with Timmy Hortz 7th (30-34)

Queensland All Schools Cross Country was held at Yatala, where Peyton Craig continued his great running form with a 2nd, while Emma Dann, Macey Roberts and Heidi Craig all ran well.
