A big 4 weeks of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Studio Steel Athletes and Club Members in action around Australia and the World.

Starting off with the World Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi where Jordan Gover finally got that elusive World Title he has been chasing for years. with so many near misses with 2nd's, 3rd's he finally turned the table with a win in the 50-54 Aquabike, backing up from his Bronze Medal 2 days earlier in the Super Sprint. SCTA Club Member Rowland Cook went one better also with a World Title in Aquabike in 70-74.

Raby Bay for Round 4 of the QTS with wet and windy conditions. Emily Donker continued her winning form with back to back Race Wins in the Open Female. It was great to see Maegan Morrison improving with top step on the podium with a win 25-29. Kyle Wallis (16-19) and Pauline Ashley (50-54) Both claiming silver.

In Super Sprint over the 400/15/4 saw Addison Houslip (13-15) dominate with Fastest Female and 6th Overall with Margo Mackintosh (40-44) on her heels with 2nd Female and 7th Overall. Millan Power 2nd (13-15) had a  strong day to take 3rd Overall. 

In the Enticer Jude Brimelow 3rd (U/14) and 3rd Male Overall had a strong day racing and Jacob Rope 8th (U/14) continues to improve with each race. while in the Kids race all raced well with Zoe Page 3rd  and Sophie Rope 7th in 7-9 Years Female. 

Over in the West for Ironman WA saw coolish and very windy conditions making it a tough day in the office. Mitch Baker 5th (30-34 - 9.01.07), Sarah Goodyear 5th (40-44 - 11.00.24), Tara Woodcock 27th (45-49 - 13.19.18) , Kevin Hammond 38th (40-44 - 11.05.38) and SCTA Club Member Brodie Gardner 13th (Pro - 8.50.00) well done all

Yamba Triathlon over the Sprint Distance saw great races from Kim Alexander 1st (50-54), Steve Miller 3rd (60-64) and Richard Padgett 9th (50-54)

Round 2 of Bribie Triathlon saw Addison Houslip step up to the Sprint Distance, where it showed the extra distance in the run would work in her favour taking out her first Triathlon Title with a Win the Open Females. The hard work being laid reap its rewards for Kyle Wallis 1st and Jericho Pogany 2nd 17-19 Years. Margo, Tania and Chloe teamed up to take Female Team and first overall. In the Short Course Jacob Rope (11-12) stepped up with a category win as to Marilyn Shrapnell (75+)

Sunshine Coast Uni 3km track meet saw all 3 athlete do PB's over this distance with Grace Brimelow 1st (Para Female - 12.15), Addison Houslip 3rd (OPEN- 9.51) and Jude Brimelow 8th (U/16 - 10.27)

KIngscliff Triathlon saw Brett Stalley 1st (60-64), Pauline Ashley 2nd (50-54) and Ariane Pickard 5th (45-49) in the Standard Distance, while in the Sprint Distance Summer Phillips 1st (14-15 - First Sprint Distance) Margo Mackintosh 1st (40-44), Steve Miller 1st (60-64)  and Richard Padgett 2nd (50-54) all had great days out racing

Kim Alexander 1st (50-54) had  a great race at Hamilton Island Triathlon while Duanne Cannell 1st (50-59) in Hamo Swim. Down in South Australia at the Glenelg 10km Run saw Emily Barrett 3rd (20-29)
and Liam Roberts 36th (20-29) both record PB's

Robina Triathlon for Round 3 of QTS saw great conditions for racing. Leading from the front Emily Donker took out the Female Race Win over the Standard Distance while training partner Emma McInnes lined up in her first OPEN race to take 3rd on the podium and some prizemoney. Greg Bush 1st (70-74) showed he has recovered from the World Ironman Championships and Prabakar Kuppusamy 5th (45-49).

In Sprint Pauline Ashley 1st (50-54) and Millan Power 4th (14-15) just missed the podium. The Enticer saw Addison Houslip 1st (U/14) and 3rd Overall amongst the boys continued her strong racing. Podium Performances to Sienna Carter 2nd (U/16) and Simone Pearce 3rd (45+). Both Grace Brimelow 5th (U/16) and Jude Brimelow 7th (U/14) continual improving. Top 10 finsihes in the Kids Race to Sophie Rope 4th (7-9) and Marcello Power 8th (10-11)

A few big weeks of racing for the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Studio Steel Athletes and Club Members in action at Australian Cross Triathlon Champs, Hervey Bay 100 and associated events, Noosa Triathlon Festival, Queensland Aquathlon Champs and Bribie Triathlon.

Over the weekend at the Australian Cross Triathlon Champs SCTA Club Member Brodie Gardner took out his 2nd Elite Australian Title at Ewen Maddock Dam. While in Hervey Bay we had athletes in the HB100 with Katie Kenny 2nd 40-44 landing on the podium with Sarah Goodyear 4th 40-44. In the shorter races on the Saturday Wade Wallis 1st Junior Male with older brother Kyle 4th Senior Male 

Noosa Triathlon didn't disappoint with perfect conditions for racing if you got away early before the heat scorched up there were some great performances across the board that saw SCTA secure 2nd Place Tri Club Podium for the 2nd year in a row. Dominated displays from Kim Alexander (50-54) and Greg Bush (70-74) saw Category Wins. Podium finishes to Emma Doyle 2nd (20-24) and Damian Bulters 3rd (40-44). Top 10 finishes to Maureen Cummings 5th (Legends), Mitch Baker 6th (OPEN Male), Jordan Gover 7th (50-54) and Angela Vinnicombe 10th (40-44). 

Under grey skies and drizzling rain the Queensland Aquathlon Champs were held at Lake Kawana that saw 6 Queensland Champions crowned with Keith Campbell (35-39), Damian Bulters (40-44), Jude Brimelow (12-13), Grace Brimelow (14-18 Multiclass), Marcello Power (10-13 Multiclass) and SCTA Club Member Ryan Marsh (18-19). Securing a Silver was Emma McInnes 2nd (18-19)

Bribie Island Triathlon Race # 1 saw Marilyn Shrapnell 1st (75+), Jericho Pogany 3rd (17-19). SCTA Club Member Ryan Fisher took out the Race Honours with a dominate performance. We have just heard that Ryan is officially retired from Triathlon From all at SCTA we wish Ryan all the best in his next journey away from Triathlon. once of the true gentleman of our sport.
