A massive weekend of racing for the 37th edition of the Noosa Triathlon Multisport Festival for the Sunshine Coast triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that were in action.

Testing swim conditions for both the 1000 Ocean swim on the Friday and on Race day saw some very strong rips, currents and undertows which made for some interesting conditions. A roiling swim start opposed tot eh mass wave starts made it interesting as well. Noosa Tri saw the swim shortened due to these conditions and saw a long run from the swim to transition area. It was warm and humid as the day went on and saw some stressed athletes crossing the line. A typical Noosa Tri as we say.

There were some great performances across the board. Lucy Bowden made it 2 years of 4th's in the OPEN Female. Gary Turner 8th (70-74) had a great race. Maureen Cummings lined up for her 21st Noosa in the Legends Female wave to take 9th. After a long road to get back from a freak injury that happened at school, she got there in the end, while Carol Wooldridge 10th (Athenas) rounded out the top 10 competitors.

We had some first time competitors at Noosa and they all performed well with Matt Billington 12th (25-29), Rebecca Howell 21st (25-29) and Angie Hammond 55th (40-44). In the Teams we saw Janelle McCosker take out the Masters Female Teams as the swimmer while Matt Wolstencroft won the Masters Male Teams as the cyclist.

SCTA Club Members had a great day out with Ryan Fisher 5th (Pro Male) and Simon Hearn 10th (Pro Male) getting some cash, while Brittany Dutton was 11th (Pro Female). The fields in the Pro Male and Female were some of the best we have seen for a while.

On Friday we had a few line up in the Titan 1000 Ocean Swim. Kayleigh Foster was 2nd (16-19) and Chloe Turner 3rd (20-29). In the Mates / Family Wave there was a bet waged between the Hammond Family with the Loser of Kevin and Jake to have to do the macarena dance on the finish line. Kev took the honours and bragging rights over Jake.

Noosa is one of those iconic races that you have to do if you haven't and will be back time and time again. Great work from the SCTA Team. Some great stories from the race and the 4th leg.

Well done to all that raced. Full results below
