Was great to see the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes in action over the past 2 weekends at Rainbow Beach for the Double Triathlon and the Beach Trail Run plus the Queensland All schools Cross Country Series Race # 1.

The Annual Double Triathlon over the Sprint Distance with a Saturday / Sunday Race at Rainbow Beach is an event that is always on the calendar for the SCTA Athletes. we have been going back up there for the past 5 years. With COVID and restrictions the number of Athletes were smaller than in previous years, but the racing was more competitive with a lot of Professional Male and Females lining up.

Day 1 - 3.30pm Race Start makes for a cruise morning and then the preparations start to ramp up by the afternoon. Good conditions for racing which saw some fast times. The cycle course saw a headwind out and a tailwind home and the run is always tough with either going up or going down on Hills.

SCTA Athletes had a great day out with Brett Stalley (55-59) taking his category win. 2nd Places went to Jorja Matthews (17-19) and Toby Coote (45-49) , 3rd place Ella Crawford (12-14), 4th Place Sophie Burger (15-16), Rebecca Howell (25-29) 5th place while Ben Cook (35-39) was 11th.

The name of the game post 1st race is recovery and the crew had access to PREPD Hydration and CLIF Bar Australia recovery measures plus compression Boots.

Day 2 saw perfect conditions for fast racing. it was a lot cooler with the westerly change that came thru during the night. Swim conditions were ideal, on the bike it was a tailwind out headwind back and by the time the run leg came out the temperature started to rise but still saw a majority of athletes running faster from Day 1 to Day 2.

SCTA Athletes raced well with Category Wins to Brett Stalley (55-59) and Toby Coote (45-49). 2nd Places went to Ella Crawford (12-14), 3rd Place to Sophie Burger (15-16) and Rebecca Howell (25-29) was 4th.

Overall Results from the 2 days of Racing saw Brett Stalley and Toby Coote Win their Category with Sophie Burger and Ella Crawford both finishing 3rd respectively. It was noted that both Ella and Sophie competed in their first ever Sprint Distance events and handled the occasion like seasoned competitors. Rebecca Howell was 4th in a very competitive 25-29 years female category.

SCTA Club Members had some great results with Simon Hearn (25-29) taking the overall wins on both days to take the Rainbow Beach Triathlon Title. Peyton Craig (15-16) 1st both days in his category to take the overall win. Lachlan Kerin was 2nd both days (25-29) to take 3rd Overall. Paul Marchant (25-29) was 4th both days to finish 4th in his category.

While down in Brisbane, Sam McClarron (12 Years Boys) lined up in the Queensland All Schools Cross Country Series Race # 1 where he landed on the Podium in 3rd Place​

Rainbow Beach Trail Running Festival is one of those tough runs with it all on the sand thru the dunes and Beach of the famous Rainbow Beach. SCTA had 3 athletes line up in the Half Marathon (21.1km) with Rheanna Dawn (Open Female) Jan Wanklyn (60+ Female) both taking the win in their respective Age Groups, while Belinda Symes (40-49 Female) taking 5th Place.
