A big 2 weeks of racing for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector aluminium Athletes that were in action at Moreton Bay Triathlon (including Qld Sprint Championships), Triathlon Pink Sunshine Coast,  and Dirt Master, National Schools Triathlon Championships at Penrith, Xterra Danao doubling as the Asia Pacific Championships, Allez Sport Sunshine Coast Cross Country Series Race # 1 and Caloundra Just Tri It Triathlon.

Moreton Bay was the backdrop for the Queensland Sprint Distance Championships with side races of Olympic, Enticer and Kool Kid distances. It was a great day of results for the SCTA squad with 16 athletes racing with 12 podiums that consisted of 9 x 1st Places (3 x State Champions) 2 x 2nd Places (Silver State Medals) and 1 x 3rd Place.

Race wins went to Romy Wolstencroft (State Champ 16-19), Lucy Bowden (State Champ 25-29), Jordan Gover (State Champ 45-49), Brett Stalley (55-59), Pauline Ashley (45-49), Melissa Charlton (35-39), Ron Craig (Clydesdale), Finn Barlow (10-11) and the Girls team with Kelly Enright and Tania Gover (1st Overall Sprint Team).

In 2nd Place we had Jake Hynes (16-19) and Matthew Wolstencroft (45-49) while Pipi Barlow snuck on the podium with a 3rd (7-9). It was a great day where SCTA finished 2nd in the Club Championships for the Medium Clubs.

Out at Ewen Maddock Dam, the TreX Off Road Triathlon and Dirt Master was held. Brodie Gardner lined up in the Open Males to finish in 2nd, while Ron Craig took out the win 40-49 in the sprint distance with Scott Marsh 5th Place in the Junior Race.

Brodie backed up that after to run in the Half Marathon Trail Run where he took the overall win by 18 mins and took out the 50km Mountain Bike ride to round out the Dirt Master Champion with the Overall win which included the Off Road Triathlon as well.

Anna Eaton was our sole competitor at the Triathlon Pink Sunshine Coast where she did the Ultra distance on 600/16/6 to finish 4th Overall.

In Penrith for the National Schools Triathlon Championships saw Kaya Shults line up in her 4th and last time at these championships, while Jazzy Shults was lining up for her 2nd appearance. Race day saw conditions change throughout the day and the wind was up and down and changing directions.

First up was Jazzy in the Junior Female over the 400/10/3 distance. She had a blinder of a swim to lead out of the water and first on the bike. A group of 5 formed out the front where the lap around the regatta centre saw a tailwind out of transition, a headwind on the back straight. Jazzy exited out of T2 just off the back of the front pack. She ran tough but just couldn't bridge the gap to finish in 6th spot. A tough age category where we have seen so much growth and development against the girls. Looking good for future Jazzy.

Kaya Shults was later in the day over the 750/20/5, and the race plan was to attack the swim nd try and get away on the bike. A lead out of the water with a Victorian Girl saw a 30 sec lead. Unfortunately for the girls a pack of 8 formed behind that worked well together and finally catch the girls at the 10km mark. The group of 10 rode together for the next 10km and it was a runners race. Nat what we wanted, but Kaya never gave in and ran well to finish in 9th Place. She had a  go at getting away, but thats draft legal racing.

Both girls lined up in the Mixed Team Relays the following morning with 2 Females and 2 males in the team. Both girls teams won to take Gold. Jazzy Junior Team and Kaya All Age Relay. Queensland went on to win the Individual and Team trophies which also meant the Overall title for the 13th Year in a row.

The Asia Pacific Championships off Road Triathlon was part of Xterra Danao in the Phillipines where we had Brodie Gardner line up in a very competitive field and a very hard and demanding race venue. Brodie had a great race to finish 6th Place Professional.

The first race of the Sunshine Coast Cross Country Series was held at Corbould Park where we had 14 athletes line up over the 10km, 6km, 4km, 3km and 2km distances where we had 8 land on the podium. Age winners went to Olivia Latimer, Chloe Turner, Gary Turner and Peyton Craig. 2nd places went to Chris George, Macey Roberts and Meg Roberts, while in 3rd place was Jake Hynes and Jan Harvey.

At the Caloundra Just Tri it, the juniors had a great outing with Finn and Pipi Barlow taking out race wins with Poppi Mendes 2nd and Maggie Mendes in 3rd. Parker Duetzmann was 5th.

Racing is a game that most of my friends enjoy and I never know why, maybe the fulfillment that they are feeling inside and that joy that they found when they are in this game. This game needs some patience and some dedication that will encourage some people to be worthy to play this game. This is a game where attention and focus is needed for you to win the game. The gears and the needed equipment must be in good condition for us to assure safety.
