Some amazing results from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Protector Aluminium Athletes that have been action over the past 2 weekends with Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon, Taupo 70.3, Yamba Triathlon, Australian Athletics Championships and QTS # 4 at Raby Bay. 28 Athletes racing with 16 podiums and a World 70.3 Qualification. Well done Team SCTA!!

The Christmas Round at the QTS # 4 was at Raby Bay with sweltering heat on the Saturday with a slightly cool change and wind on race morning which was a welcomed change. It still warmed up throughout the morning but not the 37 degrees that we had the day before.

In the Long Course Lucy Bowden made it 4 straight podiums in the OPEN Female with a 3rd place. Taking out Age wins were Matt Billington (25-29) and Jordan Gover (45-49) while Brett Stalley was 3rd (55-59). Just missing the podium in 4th were Paul Marchant (OPEN Male) and Alana Park (25-29) with Rebecca Howell 5th (25-29)

Super Sprint was dominated by SCTA Athletes. In the ladies we had 3 in the top 4 overall, while in the Males we had 2 in the top 10. With the Juniors racing Race # 1 of the National Junior Series on the Thursday, we went in with some speed change up to suit what we needed for the major racing coming in 5 days time. Age group wins to Margo Mackintosh (35-39) and fastest female and 7th Overall amongst the men. SCTA Junior Scholarship Holder Ella Wooldridge (16-19) and 2nd Female and 10th Overall, Chloe Turner (25-29) and Gary Turner (70-74). In 2nd Place was SCTA Junior Scholarship Holder Ryan Marsh (16-19) and 4th Overall, Peyton Craig (14-15) and 8th Overall in 3rd Places to Erin Wooldridge (16-19) and 4th Female Overall and Jericho Pogany (14-15). Mia Wooldridge (U/14) took Fastest Female and 4th Overall in the Enticer

Matthew Wolstencroft headed to the annual Yamba Triathlon over the sprint distance, where he lined up in the OPEN Males to just miss the podium with a  4th Place

Mackenzie Ofield went to the West for the Australian Athletics Champs where they were greeted with heat wave temperatures. Macca lined up in the 3000m Walk where she claimed a PB and 8th Place U/ 16 Girls

In Taupo for the 70.3 on the Worlds Course for 2020, where the water temp was nudging 14 degrees at the start of the week warmed up a bit to around 18 degrees on race morning. Conditions were tough with a strong headwind blowing up for the last 20km of the bike. A tough undulating run course took the sting out of the legs. Mick Woodcock claimed the last 70.3 Worlds Selection Spot in the biggest age group field in the 45-49 with a 13th place. Tania Gover 19th (40-44), Kelly Enright 24th (35-39) and Tara Partridge 27th (45-49) all had strong races.

Chloe Glover headed to Canberra to compete in the Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon which also doubled as a draft legal sprint distance and Worlds Qualifier. Chloe had a strong race to finish 2nd 30-34

The crazy cats of Tania Gover and Tara Partridge headed over to Taupo to compete in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge of 320km or 2 laps around the lake with it being quite undulating and a start time of 1.30am in the morning in very cool conditions. Both ladies did a lot of riding into the event and that showed with them both winning their respective age categories and finishing tied 2nd female overall.

Well done to all that Race. Full results below
