Race Updates

This weekend we saw the Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Juniors in action at the Queensland All Schools Triathlon Championships and we had Maureen Cummings travel to Canberra for the Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon.

Still fresh in our minds is the loss of Jackie Fairweather a year ago, in which we saw an event named in her honour on the weekend. Good friend and fellow competitor Maureen Cummings travelled to the Nations Capital in Canberra to remember a great friend and also to compete in her honour. Maureen had a great day in which saw her take out the 50-54 Years female title and 126th overall.

At Lake Kawana we saw the next generation of juniors in action at the Qld All Schools Tri Champs also doubling as a selection race for a lot of the regional school teams to compete at the Qld Schools Champs at Hervey Bay early next year. The charge from SCTA athletes was run by Taj Jones 2nd (Intermediate Boys) and SCTA / HCAUS Junior Scholarship recipient Jake Hynes 3rd (Senior Boys). Both boys had great races and improving all the time against opposition that have been around for numerous years.

Romy Wolstencroft 6th (Senior Female) led the charge on the girls side with limited training due to a trip to Europe over the past 6 weeks. Finn Barlow 7th (kids Aquathlon Female) had another great race but lost valuable time trying to get her shoes on that cost her a higher placing.

All the juniors showed great improvement and with the depth coming thru the Junior ranks at SCTA are looking very strong for the future her on the Sunshine Coast. Congratulations to all that competed. Very happy and Proud Coach
