Race Updates

Another massive weekend for Sunshine Coast Tri Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes racing at Victoria Cross Triathlon Championships in Bendigo, Triathlon Pink Sunshine Coast and Race # 2 of the Bribie Island Tri Series.

Off to Victoria for the Victorian Cross Triathlon Champs which also doubled as a selection race for the World Cross Triathlon Champs to be held  at Lake Crackenback in 2016. Brodie Gardner went down to Bendigo to line up in the Professional Category. Since returning from Maui for the World Xterra Champs, the training has been a little interrupted so it was go down and see what he could do. With World Class athlete Ben Allen on the start line it was always going to be a tough race. Brodie had another solid day out matching Ben on the bike and Run. Just got away in the swim. Brodie came away with 2nd place and some valuable points towards selection into the World Champs and also the Tre-X Series.

Triathlon Pink Sunshine Coast was the next stop at Lake Kawana for SCTA Athletes. With most families being affected by Cancer in some way or another it was a great day to represent and also help raise valuable funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

On the racing front all SCTA athletes do an amazing job with Liam Wallace, Jemma Hynes, Lara Dreyzin-Howell, Chloe Aurisch all taking out category wins. Emma Dreyzin-Howell was 2nd with Wendy Lee a 3rd. Maddison Page and Emily Hynes just missed the podium in 4th. As I said the day is about conquering Cancer and it was great to see Louise Hynes out their competing after her battle with cancer a few years ago. It was great to see the Pinkies out there running around. Well done to all that competed.

Not only were there athletes out their racing but for the past 6 years SCTA has also helped out with volunteering at this great event and putting something back into the community. A massive thanks to all helped out volunteering. The Event Crew were very happy with the effort that you all put in and also contributed to the running of a great race. From my point of view I am very proud of the hard work you put in on that morning.

And Finally to Bribie Island Tri Series Race # 2 where the SCTA recorded some amazing results as well with BJ Brown, Michael Hooper, Melissa Charlton and Maddison Dutton all taking out category wins. Benn Seiler was 2nd with Tahlea Corcoran in 3rd place. Just missing the podium we had Romy Wolstencoft and Jessica Lee in4th with Ryan Marsh in 5th. It was great to See SCTA Major Sponsor from Hybrid Concepts Australia, Jason Brown, fine tuning before the big dance this weekend at the WA Ironman.
