Race Updates

Its just doesn't stop for Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy / Hybrid Concepts Australia Athletes, with Brodie Gardner lining up at the Triathlon Australia Cross Triathlon Championships and selection race for the ITU World Cross Triathlon Championships both being held at Lake Crackenback NSW.

Brodie was coming off a 3rd place at Xterra Philippines where he recorded his first ever podium as 3rd Elite. To gain selection into the World Championships Elite team for Australia, Brodie needed to finish top 3 overall. Brodie had a great race to take silver and book his berth on the Australia Elite Team for the World Championships, and be a part of his first ever champagne shower on the podium.

With working full time in his newly opened business, Intune Sports and Health, and the demands of trying to train as a Professional athlete while working full time, It is an awesome achievement to firstly to finish 2nd, secondly gain selection into the World Champs. Well done Brodes, very well deserved indeed. Keep up the great work.

Last weekend Drew Williams (Zimbabwean athlete I Coach) was selected into the Zimbabwean Junior Elite Team for the South African Triathlon Championships which is the selection race for the African nations for the ITU Junior World Championships that will be in Mexico later in the year. Best of luck Drew who will race on 13th March.

Also the Queensland Triathlon series wrapped up last weekend with SCTA having quite a few winners and podiums in the 7 race series. The best 5 races counted. Jemma Hynes and Kevin Hammond took out Series Wins, with podium places to Taj Jones, Angie Hammond, Zsolt Dallos, Stephanie Keenan and Joshua Nixon. From the 7 race series SCTA athletes recorded 1st Places x 21, 2nd Place x 16 and 3rd Place x 14. Well done on an awesome series team.
